RECIPIENT OF A RESIDENCY AT THE BERGMAN ESTATE (BERGMANGÅRDARNA) ON FÅRÖ DURING MAY

I have arrived at Ängen house on Fårö, a house Ingmar Bergman built a few hundred meters away from his own house Hammar. During my weeklong residency at the Bergman Estate I plan to immerse myself in my invented explorer Jonas Falck. Then I will explore Ingman Bergman’s library, watch movies in his private cinema, walk along the beaches like the Fårö old man (Fårögubben) himself. Then I write a little and draw a bit. It feels good and to say I’m excited would be an understatement!

I am excited to be an exhibiting artist at OpenArt Örebro (Sweden), Scandinavia’s biggest art event. Contemporary art from all over the world is temporarily displayed in the city center, for everyone to experience it. People will encounter art in places they least expect it everywhere in the city center – on the street, shop windows, facades, on the water surface, around the castle or in parks. OpenART takes place June 14 – September 6, 2015.

EXHIBITING ARTISTS AT ARCHIPEL GALLERY, AMERSFOORT, NETHERLANDS

Archipel Gallery is hosting an international exhibition in April-May 2015. The theme is the transition from figurative art to abstraction, with particular inspiration from Mondrian’s development towards abstraction.  One hundred years ago, in 1915, Mondrian exhibited his first abstracted paintings in Holland: the Pier & Ocean series, in which his first steps into ultimate abstraction was clear. My contribution will be two drawings from the series Sketches for impossible construction.

SWEDISH ART GRANTS COMMITTEE’S WORKING GRANT

I’m incredibly grateful to have been awarded the Swedish Arts Grants Committee’s one-year working grant. Working grants are intended to provide professional artists with the opportunity to concentrate on and develop their artistic work.

SOLO SHOW AT THE ART MUSEUM IN SUNDSVALL, SWEDEN

The exhibition, taking the form of an installation with photographs, stories, and museum objects, will tell the story about an old house in the northern part of Sweden. The house, built in 1866, was the location of one of the most brutal mass murders in the history of Sweden. The installation, oscillating between what we perceive to be fact and fiction, will effectively paint a picture of how much the concept of “truth” can be stretched in a museum context.

The opening will be on Saturday, February 1st at 1 pm and will run until March 23rd.
